A Different View...

Yesterday I saw an older man, walking along a quiet little neighborhood street, bent over, at nearly a 90 degree angle from some sort of disability. He had obviously been that way for quite awhile, as he seemed very accustomed to it, walking with a cane to offset his forward pitch, and a slow, but steady, and well practiced gait.

But what caught my eye the most, was the suit he was wearing. It was a simple, too large (perhaps at one time he was a larger man, when he could walk and move completely upright), and somewhat rumpled suit, but it was a suit none the less.

And I thought to myself, as I drove by, and said a silent little blessing for him, that his view of the world (at least at that moment) was completely different from mine. His view was not of the tress turning their bright orange, yellow and red colors, or of the mountain turning an amazing purple, as the sunset in the west. His view, was of the gray pavement under his feet, as he took each careful step to move forward on his obviously daily walk.

And what made me smile, and ponder, was how we each see the same world, quite differently, based on where we are at inside of it. And his view, no matter what he was seeing, was so impressive, and delightful for him, that he thought enough about the task at hand, to get dressed up (including a nice red tie) for it.

He looked happy. And I wondered, as I drove on past, if the crooked little grin I saw on his face was from a little secret that he carried in his heart, of what was on the ground, and what Autumn changes he was seeing from his perspective. What did his view afford him, that I could not see, simply because I am looking at it differently?

And I have to say, that life truly is what you make it. I am sure this man would not choose to be twisted and deformed into a human pretzel. But he has obviously chosen to be thankful for the new view it has afforded him..

And it made me think, how I am going to work harder, to be more thankful, and to look for the 'different' view too...

Thank you for reading, and thank you for sharing your thoughts, your Spirit, and your time with me. I appreciate you all.

I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something.
